How would you say Michael is doing now?

Nadia Nushtayev, Michael’s mom

Long story short, we are more optimistic right now about Michael’s future than we were seven years ago, when he was just diagnosed.

What’s it like with Michael receiving VILTEPSO at home?

Nadia Nushtayev, Michael’s mom

We live in such a remote area. There is not much around here. We used to drive 2 hours each way for Michael’s infusions. Now, we are very grateful that Michael is able to get his infusions at home, so we don’t have to travel. We have a home health nurse who comes once a week. She takes his vitals. It’s all done in our house.

What’s it like taking VILTEPSO?

Michael Nushtayev

I’ve been taking VILTEPSO about a year. Taking VILTEPSO at home is great because we don’t have to drive two hours each way. And I can get more time to do things I like to do, like play music.

What types of exercises do you do?

Michael Nushtayev

I do the butterfly exercise, hamstring stretches, and Achilles lengthening. These help me with mobility. Also, we go swimming three times a week. I splash around in the pool, and my brothers taught me to swim better. Swimming feels nice, especially when my feet have been sweating the entire day.

If you could say one thing to someone with Duchenne, what would it be?

Michael Nushtayev

I would say to never give up.

VILTEPSO is indicated for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) in patients who have a confirmed mutation of the DMD gene that is amenable to exon 53 skipping. This indication is approved under accelerated approval based on an increase in dystrophin production in skeletal muscle observed in patients treated with VILTEPSO. Continued approval for this indication may be contingent upon verification and description of clinical benefit in a confirmatory trial.
